Sammy Wegent



Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Sammy started SPF7 in 2001. He holds a B.F.A. in Theatre from Shorter College and an M.F.A. in Acting from Catholic University. As a comedian, Sammy won the 2005 Battle of the Bay Comedy Competition at the San Jose Improv and continues to hold the title of “The Funniest Person in the Bay Area.”

Sammy has performed at theatres, comedy clubs, and festivals all over North America, including the Chicago Improv Festival, the San Francisco Theater Festival, Stand Up NY, the St. Louis Fringe Festival, Washington D.C.’s The Shakespeare Theatre, the San Francisco Improv Festival, Gotham Comedy Club, dccomedyfest!, the Bay Area Comedy Festival, and the Toronto International Improv Festival. Sammy has taught and performed comedy at several universities across the country as well as at several companies, including Georgetown University, Old Dominion University, the American College Theatre Festival, dccomedyfest!, The Princenton Review, Clickatell and NBC Universal. Sammy is the Associate Artistic Director of the Seaside Repertory Theatre in Seaside, Florida and the Executive Producer of the Gulf Coast Comedy Festival.
